Sessions nixes Obama-era rules leaving states alone that legalize pot

( CNN) Attorney General Jeff Sessions on Thursday invalidated a trio of memo from the Obama administration that had adopted a program of non-interference with marijuana-friendly nation laws.

The move basically changes federal program from the hands-off approach adopted under the previous administration to unleashing “prosecutors ” across the country to decide individually how to prioritize resources to crack down on jackpot self-possession, dissemination and cultivation of the pharmaceutical in districts where it is legal.

While many positions have decriminalized or allowed marijuana utilization, the drug is still illegal under federal statute, creating a conflict between federal and commonwealth law. Thursday’s announcement is a major decision for the purposes of an attorney general who has regularly condemned marijuana help as dangerous.
